Our Principals

Roberta Greenspan - Founder

Specialdocs Consultants, Inc. founder, Roberta Greenspan, has over 25 years of progressive experience in the healthcare field in both hospital and private practice settings in the Chicago area. Throughout her career, Roberta has consistently developed and maintained a reputation for trust, respect and discretion when dealing with physicians and ancillary staff.

As the Physician Administrator for Evanston Northwestern Healthcare/Highland Park Hospital for more than ten years, Roberta was extensively involved in physician relations, program implementation and organization, operations improvement and delivery of quality patient-focused services. Roberta served as both physician liaison and advisor, developing a unique perspective of the challenges faced by many of today’s physicians. Consequently, her understanding of imposed healthcare constraints and the resulting impact on physician practices has been a very personal experience.

In 2002, Roberta left an increasingly impersonal and corporate hospital environment to launch Specialdocs, a boutique medical practice consulting firm dedicated exclusively to converting traditional medical practices to personalized concierge models.

A leading authority on concierge medicine, Roberta has been quoted in numerous news article across the country, and has appeared on Chicago television as well as nationally on CCN and CNNFN discussing today’s healthcare crisis and new medical practice solutions. She has authored several articles on the topic of concierge medicine including an article for Physician Practice, the Business Journal for Physicians. Roberta was a member of the Board of Directors of The Society for Innovation Medical Practice Design (SIMPD), formerly known as the American Society of Concierge Physician, from 2005 - 2007.

Michael Friedlander - Principal

Michael Friedlander, Principal, brings to Specialdocs Consultants over four decades of experience in a broad range of financial, marketing and risk management areas.

Michael began his career in the investment banking business and worked on Wall Street for several years. He then relocated back to Chicago and continued his career as a member of the Chicago Board Options Exchange. While in his late 30’s, Michael made a decisive career change. He established a successful marketing and sales promotion company in Chicago, specializing in innovative marketing programs for a wide range of corporate clients.

After selling his marketing company, in the early 1990’s he affiliated with a high profile commercial printing and electronic media communications corporation in suburban Chicago. While overseeing one of the print divisions, in 2002 Michael was introduced to Roberta Greenspan and her new healthcare consulting firm, Specialdocs. Working with Roberta as a consultant, his strong business acumen and his expertise in the areas of marketing, customer service and risk management have been an invaluable asset to the growth and success of Specialdocs. In 2007, Michael became a full time partner in Specialdocs Consultants, Inc.

Michael and Roberta have blended their unique set of skills - his depth of business knowledge, corporate experience, and marketing acumen with her career history in the healthcare field and as a leading authority in concierge medicine - to create the largest independently owned concierge healthcare consulting firm in the country.
